Letter from the Owner Belinda Ferguson

Welcome to issue 19 our 2017 Xmas issue and final issue for 2017, personally I would like to wish all our readers a very Merry Xmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. Also, I would like to thank our extremely valued clients for their business which has allowed the ISLAND and Surrounds to bring you HONEST and local news to your homes. So please support them! For us 2018 will bring some exciting new changes (so watch this space!!!!). As usual we will be focusing on our wonderful community and all it has to offer along with up to date information from our Local state member. 2017 was a huge learning experience for the team at TIAS, I am so proud and honoured to be working with such a talented group of people who have contributed so much to my newspaper. Roger Small our exceptional designer, Harvey Fewings staff writer, Damian Brown who covers all our close encounters, and of course our Cranky Lizard and his column who always says what we are all thinking, Vicki Lee Staff writer with her honest and heartfelt articles, Matt Owen who looks after our website and social media. We now have Emilia Strazdins who is a Bribie Island High School student contributing her articles also. I also want to thank our printers who are also local Horton Media for their advice and patience with us, they worked overtime to ensure the TIAS was delivered with every issue and on time. (We are the only paper who prints Locally).I would like to welcome the Bribie Island Amateur Fishermen’s Association of Queensland Incorporated. They will now be doing our fishing reports. Please have a wonderful Xmas and New Year and enjoy your time with family and friends.Warm regards Belinda Ferguson
