Prime Minister Scott Morrison has visited the Longman electorate to chat with a group of local National Disability Insurance Scheme clients at a Roundtable meeting with Federal Member for Longman Terry Young MP and Minister for the NDIS Stuart Robert MP.

The NDIS Roundtable meeting was held at the Morayfield Health Hub on Tuesday, 8th October.

Mr Young said the meeting offered valuable insight into the scheme through the eyes of the NDIS participants.

“It was great to have Prime Minister Scott Morrison in the electorate to hear the stories, needs, talents and goals of some of Longman’s NDIS clients,” Mr Young said.

“Finding out the needs of individuals across the Longman electorate and meeting these needs is one of the many reasons why I got into politics, so I was proud to be able to hear the stories and listen to the needs of the NDIS clients at this meeting.”

The Longman electorate currently has 1,477 NDIS participants and 281 providers, as of the 30th June 2019.

Mr Young said the Morrison Government needed to ensure that the NDIS continues to give Australians with disability the resources and services they need to greatly enhance and improve their overall quality of life.

“We need to help people with disability to learn, build and develop the skills they need to be independent and go about their daily lives with ease, retain and find employment, help them get access to the vital services they need and empower them to engage and make a difference within their community,” Mr Young said.

“So that they can lead happy, healthy, active and fulfilling lives.”
