Federal Member for Longman Terry Young MP says he will fight for $242,000 in Federal funding to get lights installed at the oval at the Sandstone Point Community and Sport Complex.

Lighting up the oval at the Sandstone Point complex will allow more local sporting and community organisations to utilise the oval afterhours.

Mr Young has called on the community of Longman to rally behind the fight for funding for the Sandstone Point Community and Sport Complex, with an e-petition to be made available on Mr Young’s Facebook page.

Mr Young said organisations like the Bribie District Little Athletics, who already utilise the oval, would benefit from the installation of lights at the oval.

“It’s important to ensure that people who use the oval after hours are given a safe and secure location to hold organisation activities and sessions,” Mr Young said.

“By installing the lights at the oval, we will be able provide oval users with that comfort and any family members.”
