The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s decision to cancel the 2020/21 Budget means vital Pumicestone road upgrades and job-creating projects will be delayed, LNP Candidate for Pumicestone, Fiona Gaske said today.
“The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s decision to cancel this year’s budget means there will be further delays to critical road projects and less jobs will be created for our electorate.” Mrs Gaske said.
“The Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) cannot continue indefinitely without a state budget. The only new road funding is the $20 million contribution from the Federal LNP Government to upgrade Bribie Island Road”
“The lack of certainty around the 2020/21 Budget means vital upgrades to Bribie Island and Beachmere Roads will continue to be forgotten about and the Labor Government can avoid scrutiny just months before the October State Election about what projects will begin over the next twelve months.”
“Before Covid-19 shut down the country, we had one of the highest unemployment rates in the South East and the cancellation of this year’s budget means things are going to get worse before they get better again”
“The LNP has a plan to build a stronger economy – to build new roads and dams across Queensland, including the visionary New Bradfield Scheme. Deb and the LNP are the only team that have an economic plan to get Queensland working again.”
