Beachmere may have celebrated its 150th Birthday a little late but it certainly went off with a BANG.

The first weekend had locals attending a Gala on Friday night, a Festival in the Park on Saturday and a High Tea on Sunday. The Beachmere Then and Now Exhibition ran for ten days with the celebrations culminating in a “Wrap” Party on the following Sunday.

Commemorative items were dedicated including a Quilt, Mosaic Pots and Lectern with, perhaps, the biggest item of all being the “unveiling” of the recently painted Beachmere water tower.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor, Peter Flannery opened the Gala with Councillors for Division 1, Mark Booth and Division 2, Brooke Savige also in attendance.

The Festival in the Park was headlined by A Taste of Tarantino, bush poets Cay and Barry and by “Comedy Circus Stuntman” extraordinaire Joel Fenton with an act that included “juggling” chainsaws and knives and stepping into a balloon.

Market stalls and vintage cars, face painters, balloon artists along with stalls from Volunteer Marine Rescue, SES and the 2/25th Infantry Re-enactment Group kept everyone busy throughout the afternoon.

A team from Palm Lakes Resort descended on the Hub and transformed the Bay Room into the biggest Tea Room to be seen. Boom Baby entertained while plates of delectables kept arriving from the kitchen throughout the afternoon.

Beachmere businesses strongly supported the Celebration and a large number of volunteers worked throughout the ten days to ensure the event was a huge success.
