Dragon Force Model 65 (DF65) Racing

Typical for October, the wind averaged 10 to 15 knots most days, mainly from the southeast, providing good sailing conditions for our members. The exception was October 8 - the race day was abandoned due to high winds and choppy water. Weed has become a serious problem, causing a number of sailors to withdraw from one or more events on the day. As weed growth is seasonal, it is hoped that the problem will clear by itself as the weather warms up.


As a trial, all races are now run under the handicap system.

October 8: Racing was abandoned (high wind).

October 15: 23 degrees Celsius, clear skies.

We sail on Thursday and Sunday afternoons at 1pm, Sandstone Lake, Treefrog Street at the recreation pergola. Thursday is an open event, any class of boat. The afternoon is used to test boats, discuss tuning tips etc. Sunday is for DF65’s only and races are conducted in accordance with accepted sailing rules. Scores are recorded, handicaps calculated and from January, a small medallion will be presented to the monthly winner, based on the number of first places achieved.
