The usual Friday afternoon traffic chaos has been amplified due to a crash.

Northbound lanes of the Bruce Highway have been closed at Morayfield due to a serious traffic crash.

Emergency services were called to the scene after reports of a collision between a truck and a car about 10am this morning (Friday).

The truck has rolled on its side and the car was also seriously damaged, but there are believed to be only minor injuries as a result of the incident, with one patient transported to Caboolture Hospital for further assessment.

As the truck was transporting a liquid at the time of the crash, some of this has spilled on to the highway. All northbound lanes are now closed and will need to be cleaned up and cleared.

The road closure has triggered significant traffic gridlock, with northbound congestion stretching back several kilometres toward North Lakes. Diversions are in place along Uhlmann Road, Morayfield and other road interchanges.

Long delays are expected with emergency services and road crews on site to manage the scene and clear the wreckage. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible and seek an alternative route.
