For the past 55 years, Caboolture Gem Club has been providing a venue, equipment and training in all forms of lapidary for the local community through voluntary management and instructors, and we continue to grow.

On August 1, we are holding our annual gemfest in the Caboolture Showgrounds for the third year in a row. This year will be the biggest show we have ever produced on the back of a record year in 2025, with even more exhibitors displaying their unique items.

Visitors should expect to see all manner of gemstones, opals, jewellery, fossils and minerals, as well as a variety of tools and equipment along with unique hand-crafted jewellery. Choose your gemstone and setting and have your own personal piece of jewellery created while you wait.

There’s free entry for children 12 years and under with plenty of fun activities including ‘gem sieving’.

While the huge outdoor area of the showgrounds has a market atmosphere with a diverse variety of fossicking equipment, rough gemstones, slabs for cabochons and other surprises, the enclosed shed houses a magnitude of beautiful jewellery and possibly the largest display of jewellery making tools and supplies for the hobbyistavailable at a gem show.

Caboolture Gem Club members are among the most talented in Australia, having won and also placed in the recent national competition displayed at the Gemboree in Nambour over the Easter weekend. Competition items from members will be on display at our gemfest.

You won’t go home hungry or thirsty either. The club barbecue will be fired up and tea/coffee will also be available.

For a $5 admission price, our annual gemfest is the perfect venue to liaise with amateur lapidaries willing to share knowledge of their particular field be it faceting, cabochons or jewellery making. Just ask any member wearing a Caboolture Gem Club shirt on the day. The club stand will also have information and application forms for those interested in joining and taking the lapidary challenge.
