Throw a snag or lamb chop on the barbie, take a dip in the pool or even spend a lazy day at the beach with a game of cricket thrown in, there’s so much you can do on Australia Day. However if you haven’t made any plans and you’re looking for somewhere to go on January 26, there’s a lot happening on and around the Island plus a little bit further afield if you’re up for the drive.
Celebrate by the water with some festivities and free family fun from 5pm at Brennan Park. There will be live music, games, food trucks and a sausage sizzle. At 7pm, fireworks (proudly presented by the Moreton Bay Regional Council) will be let off from two different barge locations, so set yourself up somewhere along the passage foreshore to get the best view.
How fast can you peel a kilo of prawns? Bribie Bowls is playing host to an Australia Day Prawn Peeling Challenge. Check out bribiebowls.com for all the info!
Don’t miss the Australia Day Bingo $7000 Super Session at Caboolture Sports Club. There will also be raffles and lamingtons in the mix. You can also Snag a Winner in another club competition.
Head over to Scarborough for the afternoon with Music in the Park. From 1pm-6pm, there will be live music, food trucks, market stalls and plenty of fun for the kids.
North Lakes Sports Club will have Australia Day festivities kicking off from 10.30am. There will be games, music, promo draws, pop up local brewers and a food truck and heaps of prizes to be won!
If all else fails and you just want to enjoy a relaxing day in true Aussie style, just grab a cool drink, a few snacks and enjoy some quiet time at home!
