Hi, this is Danny and Michelle from Island Fishing Supplies, Banksia Beach and Bellara!

WINTER IS A BEAUTIFUL TIME OF THE YEAR TO FISH!

We have had some fantastic days and weeks of beautiful winter weather, perfect conditions with light westerly winds.

WINTER FISHING HIGHLIGHTS

SANDSTONE POINT

The tailor have moved in and the locals are getting them, trolling with hard body lures.  There’s also been some great whiting caught on the flats.

Whiting on the flats at Sandstone Point.

BRIBIE BRIDGE

Still fishing well for flathead and mulloway at night, mainly caught on live bait and soft plastics.

Flathead caught on a soft plastic – Bribie Bridge.

WOORIM BEACH

Tailor caught on metal slug’s late afternoon and some really big bream on hardy heads.

BANKSIA BEACH

The snapper have turned up around the ripples, herring being the best bait and mainly on a low tide, also a few nice tailor as well.

WHITE PATCH

Still heaps of flathead on the flats around the yabby banks and again soft plastics are the go. Also, some great blue swimmers are starting to move into the passage towards the Bribie bridge.

Winter whiting and flounder caught on the Cockle Banks.

Tyde caught these great mud crabs.

With the weather the way it is now, it is a perfect time to get out to these areas to catch enough for a few meals.

Enjoy fishing and remember to catch only what you need!
