Fishing with Paul

Hi all. Not much to report this month with only a few trips on the water with mixed results.

Headed out to the northern end of Caloundra wide.  When it’s perfect it fishes well and as it’s a near two-hour run from Sandstone Point you pray for those conditions. Unfortunately, this was not one of those days. With only two fish in the esky and another 20+ becoming shark food this proved to be a very disappointing experience.

Next trip was to Deep Tempest which I haven't fished for years. Thankfully the fish were active, disappointedly a lot were undersized. By skill or sheer luck, we managed to bag out on 40-50cm Snapper.  The fish were on all day – nothing too big but a worthwhile trip.

Last trip was a nighttime bash to a reef in 150mtrs east of the Sunshine Coast 50 fathom ledge. Snagging Snapper between 40-65cm, a few Pearlies and surprisingly an out-of-its depth Moses Perch – a welcome catch having never seen one that deep before.

Whilst I didn’t take out the big prize, the Sandstone Point fishing competition was very well organised with a great time had by all. Fingers crossed they hold it again next year.

Ok, out of here, stay safe and catch plenty.
