IAMKIND is stepping outside its comfort zone this year to take on Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge (NUC) and help raise awareness and support for people experiencing homelessness across Australia.

IAMKIND is a local community movement on a mission to create a kinder, more connected world. Through personal development workshops, school programs and community initiatives, the movement creates opportunities for people to practise intentional kindness and recognise the impact they can have on others.

Last year, IAMKIND had the privilege of meeting Nedd Brockmann and the Uncomfortable Challenge team. The experience inspired the movement to continue finding meaningful ways to challenge themselves and their community to make a difference. In 2026, IAMKIND was invited to Sydney to help promote, encourage and inspire others to get involved in Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge, following the ongoing support and impact of the IAMKIND community.

This year, IAMKIND is taking things a step further by putting their own bodies on the line and inviting the wider community to get involved.

There are about 122,000 people experiencing homelessness across Australia, with 1424 people experiencing homelessness in the City of Moreton Bay. These numbers have inspired IAMKIND’s own 122 Challenge, which will see co-founders Emily Lovell and Ellie Wust attempt to run 122 kilometres in just 48 hours along the Bribie Island waterfront, starting at Brennan Park.

It will be a major physical and mental challenge, but Emily and Ellie will not be taking it on alone. The wider community will be invited and challenged to join them, with individuals and teams encouraged to complete sections of the distance alongside IAMKIND. Whether people run a few kilometres, walk part of the route or take on a longer section, every contribution will help, asking people to step outside their comfort zones and consider what they can do to support someone else.

Together, the community is aiming to reach an overall target of 1424 kilometres, representing the number of people experiencing homelessness in the City of Moreton Bay.

For IAMKIND, the challenge is not simply about running kilometres. It is about turning physical discomfort into action and using the challenge as an opportunity to start conversations about homelessness and what individuals can do to help.

The movement has also created a series of 122 Acts of Kindness, giving people different ways to contribute, whether they can run, donate, cook, give or simply get involved. One of the goals is to provide 122 home-cooked meals to local community organisations and shelters, including the Bribie Island Neighborhood Centre and Caboolture Community Action Group.

IAMKIND is also collecting 122 blankets to provide warmth and comfort to people experiencing homelessness, as well as 122 toys and teddy bears for children in need. The community is also being encouraged to purchase an IAMKIND teddy and donate it to a child who may need a little extra comfort and kindness.

There will also be an opportunity for the community to support the cause while enjoying a meal together. IAMKIND will hold a fundraising night at Grill’d, with a goal of reaching 122 burgers. Funds raised will go back to Caboolture Community Action to support local people experiencing homelessness.

While these acts may seem small, IAMKIND believes they can have a meaningful impact when people come together. The movement hopes the challenge will demonstrate that everyone has the ability to make a difference, regardless of how much time, money or resources they have.

Homelessness is a complex issue, and there is no single solution. IAMKIND believes that change begins when people are willing to take action and recognise that their individual choices can contribute to something bigger.

For IAMKIND, the message is simple: your impact matters, big or small.

One person may not be able to solve homelessness, but a community working together can provide support, create awareness and help people feel less alone. By taking on Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge, IAMKIND hopes to raise much-needed funds for We Are Mobilise, support local organisations and encourage the Moreton Bay community to come together for a cause that affects thousands of Australians.

The challenge may start with 122 kilometres, but IAMKIND hopes it will lead to something much bigger: a community that is more aware, more connected and more willing to take action.

Because when people choose to do their bit, those small acts of kindness can add up to something powerful.
