Dear Readers,

Welcome to issue 67. The team at the LOCAL News would like to wish all the dads out there a very happy and fantastic Fathers Day. We hope you spend the day creating memories with your family.

This issue brings some great articles, with staff writers asking serious questions: from COVID 19 injections to contact tracing, who is an essential worker and who is not, the effect on our economy to name a few. We’ve seen an incredible number of injections administered in our region over the last few weeks, probably because of what’s happening in New South Wales. I’ve also seen companies take a stand with regards to their employees who must be double-jabbed to work for them. To be honest, I think this will certainly help us get some normality back in our lives.

Anthony Cass (Pelagic Hunter) talks about the winter Spanish Mackerel run this year - the best we've seen in a while. Mozza as usual has some great local news about our environment and asks us to take care on our 4WD beach with a timely safety first reminder.

Our local Federal Member Terry Young goes into bat with his government minister for one of his constituents, a local farmer.

And of course, we’ve tried to bring you plenty of local good news stories to give relief from the stress and uncertainty of these difficult times. Who’s for a coffee at Woorim Dog Beach?

Please enjoy your read and, as always, support our local businesses, always use the Check In Qld app and continue to be safe.

Warm regards,

Belinda Ferguson
