For years the Bribie/ Ningi Ambulance Committee have worked tirelessly supporting our local community. True unsung heroes, quietly working in the background supporting the work of the Queensland Ambulance Service. Sadly, they too have been affected by the ravages of the pandemic and forced to suspend much of their essential work.

"We want to reboot the committee, attract new members, and tell everyone we are still operating”, said Rae Guyder, President of the Bribie/ Ningi Local Ambulance Committee. Rae Guyder approached me after reading our article on defibrillators last month. "We have only eight members on our committee, and some cannot do the work and provide the active support necessary to run our programs. Can you help us?”, she asked. Working closely with the Queensland Ambulance Service, the Local Ambulance Committee commits to-

  • Supporting paramedics,

  • Providing community safety training sessions, including CPR Awareness and defibrillator training,

  • Working with local schools to provide first aid training,

  • Provision of first aid support at community events, and

  • Setting up community displays to promote the Queensland Ambulance Service and the Local Ambulance Committee.

We have all read and heard about how stretched the Ambulance Service is, and the Local Ambulance Committee is an integral part of that infrastructure needed to support our local community. Here is a tangible way you may be able to help and get involved. You don't have to be a first aid expert as free training is provided. And it is a great way to make some new friends and give back to your community. For more information, please get in touch with Rae Guyder M: 0416 023 818 E: bribie.ningi.lac@hotmail.com
