SUCCESSFUL ART EXHIBITION & BOOK LAUNCH

A hugely successful Art Exhibition and Book Launch was held at Toorbul on Saturday 19 February, organised by the Toorbul & Donnybrook Seniors Club.

Eleven local artists exhibited their work, attracting many visitors. The exhibition included quilters (Lyn & Julie), Painters (Marie, Carmen, Joy, Tania, Bev), Illustrator (Peter), Embroiderers (Holly, Gail), Knitters & Craft (Daphne, Gail), Woodworkers (Alan) and Photographers (Judy). Two talented local musicians created an ambient atmosphere as guests and artists enjoyed a delicious morning tea.

During the morning volunteers from the TCDA, sold tickets in the raffle for a painting by Marie Browning. Funds raised will assist local boy, Hudson, who needs help with medical expenses. This is an ongoing effort by the Toorbul Community.

Terry Young, local Federal Member for Longman, officially opened the event, and introduced local author John Besley. Due to illness, John’s presentation regarding his five-book series a ‘Queensland Historical Saga’, was presented by video. This informative presentation was produced by Michael Daniell, whose company ‘Autograph’ specialises in family documentaries. Available for purchase was his first novel, ‘Friend & Foe’. We finished this successful exhibition with some lovely wine and cheese.
