‘Unsinkable’ Quantum Catamaran for sale PRICE: $26.500 (brand new price: $40K)

By Alistair Gray

It is rare that a boat as unique as the Quantum Cat 480 open classic comes on the market at a highly discounted price. This effectively brand-new boat has been in the water twice and cared for in a boat shed out of the water since its original purchase in 2023. This superb boat oozes quality and its multipurpose hull makes for a stable fishing platform making it ideal for recreational fishermen and women keen to explore the inland waters of the Pumicestone Passage.

Australian designed and built by the boat manufacturer Quantum Cat Marine Pty Ltd at Kunda Park on the Sunshine Coast, the boat has been designed to be unsinkable with the internal hull cavity filled with one cubic metre of closed-cell polyurethane foam. According to the manufacturer, this makes the hull incredibly strong and the boat unsinkable. The construction also makes for a quiet ride with no drumming or hull slap, even at speed or in choppy conditions. With a professionally designed hull, this 4.8-metre catamaran comes with all the goodies you would expect of a boat of this class, with front and rear seating, including two rotating pedestal seats, ideal for the comfort of the serious fisherman. The vessel is powered by a more than adequate 40hp Yamaha 4-stroke engine with only 10 hours of use, meaning the engine is barely run in. There is also heaps of storage and a Bimini top to protect you from the sun. The Quantum Cat 480 comes with a new aluminium Magnum 4 trailer, which makes launching and retrieving the boat easy for one person. You can drive the Cat on or off the trailer with little effort. All you need is a couple of fishing rods and the right bait and you could be away fishing as early as tomorrow.
