If you have some spare time, love helping others and enjoy getting involved with the environment, Bribie Island Butterfly House would love to hear from you!
The not-for-profit organisation has been in the community for nine years and has helped give more than $1.2 million away to worthy charities with 50% going back to the Island. Some of the groups they support include:
BIEPA
BIDNC
Global Care
B.I.K.E.S
Wildlife Rescue
They also help support CADA, Eats4Streets, Inverts Australia, Wanda Nerida, Mt Mee State School and overseas projects through ENTRUST.
The amazing team of volunteers has roles including gardeners, butterfly breeders, tour guides and the ticket office. You join an amazing supportive team with regular morning teas/sausage sizzles/monthly raffles and will make lifelong friendships.
They are also Centrelink approved, so if you are required to do 15 hours for Centrelink they can help you with that.
Along with the days they are open to the public (Wednesday and Sunday between 9am and 3pm), volunteers also work seven days a week between 7am and 12.30pm, giving you plenty of days to choose from.
If you feel you could spare some time to help out a worthy organisation, please contact operations manager Peta Daraz via info@bribieislandbutterflyhouse.org OR you can pop in for a visit to speak to Peta for a volunteer form any day between 9am and 10am.
Bribie Island Butterfly House is located at 206B First Avenue, on the right-hand side heading towards Woorim. You’ll find them behind the Orchid Society Hall.
