Fair dinkum, it’s time for Australia Day again. A day at the beach, a picnic in the park or a barbecue at home with mates, as well as some backyard cricket in the mix, there’s a lot you can do on Australia Day. But if you haven’t made any plans and you’re looking for somewhere to go on January 26, there’s a lot happening on and around the Island, plus a little bit further afield if you’re up for the drive.

Brennan Park is the place to be for an evening of family fun and festivities. Kicking off from 5pm, there will be live music, food trucks and of course the grand finale with a fireworks display to end the night with a bang. For the best view of the spectacular light show, set up along the Pumicestone Passage foreshore and soak in the mesmerising sight to see out the end of 2023.

All blokes and sheilas are encouraged to head along to celebrate Australia Day with a free show at the Bribie RSL. Aussie Boogaloo are ready to take to the stage with their high energy + acoustic based + dance covers, for an epic night of dancing, starting at 8pm.

Get your Aussie kit on and pack your sunnies for a heaps good arvo at Sandstone Point Hotel. Live music starts out on the waterfront from midday. There’s also a 50m slip n slide where you can bring your own inflatable ring or pool toy (less than 1m wide) or have some fun sliding down without one. There’s also free lamington eating competitions for a chance to win prizes or even see how far you can throw one of your thongs. Head along with your mates or family for this all-ages event with free entry.

Head over to Scarborough for the day with an afternoon by the bay at Scarborough Beach. From 1pm-6pm, enjoy an afternoon of live music and free family fun for a great day down by the water. Bring a picnic rug and fold-up chairs, find the perfect position and chill out while listening to some great entertainment. There will be plenty of tucker available with a different selection of food trucks onsite, just bring some water, sunscreen, something to sit on and some shade and she’ll be right!

If all else fails and you just want to enjoy a relaxing day in true Aussie style, just grab a cool drink or 10, a few snacks and enjoy some quiet time at home!

Please check with individual venues for further event information.
