Small Business Owner to contest Longman for the LNP

The Liberal National Party has preselected local small businessman, Terry Young to contest the next federal election in the electorate of Longman.

“Terry is exactly what the Liberal National Party is all about,” LNP President, Gary Spence said. “He’s a family man who risked it all to start a small business, worked hard, employed locals and gives back to his community.”

Raised in Kallangur, Terry attended Kallangur Primary and Dakabin State High before working his way up in retail.

“I opened the Chandlers store at Caboolture Park Shopping Centre in 1992 and then started the Good Guys in Morayfield from scratch in 2001. Starting a business isn’t easy, but with hard work and determination I grew them, employed dozens of locals and gave back to the community. ” Mr Young said.

“I built a reputation as someone who was always willing to donate goods to various charities and sponsor local sporting teams. I’ve always believed in giving back to the community that supported me.”

As a father to four kids, Terry knows how difficult it can be for young people to get into good, secure jobs locally.

“Our area has always had high unemployment, that’s why I’m happy to be part of an LNP team that has provided $10 million in funding for an expansion at the local saw mill, creating new jobs right here.”

“I support the new ICE rehab facility that the LNP Government is funding and believe that we need to do more to deal with crim in our area.”

“I was raised in this community and I understand the issues we’re facing. My commitment is to get out and listen to as many people as I can.”
