On Thursday, October 17th there was a shark attack at 8th Avenue, Woorim.

A young surfer was knocked from his board whilst waiting for a wave. It wasn’t until he saw the bite marks in his board that he realised what had knocked him off, understandably he is shaken by the experience.

There were about a dozen surfers out on the day, and the attack took place at around a quarter to four in the afternoon.

Information on the shark attack and photos were provided by Brad Highlands, a friend of the young surfer.

Locals should be on alert and may wish to be careful out on the Woorim surf for a while, and to check in with the Surf Lifesavers before paddling out.
