In what has already been a chaotic week for Bribie Island, one Banksia Beach family is now without a home after it was destroyed by fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the two-storey home in Vanillalily Close, which backs on to the Pacific Harbour Golf & Country Club, just after midday.

The property was already engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived, with multiple hoses used to try and control the fire over several hours.

The home’s owner arrived on scene as the emergency unfolded, but could only stand back with neighbours and watch as the power of the flames ripped through the house taking everything in its path. The heat of the fire was so strong, the roof of the home also caved in.

While investigations into the cause of the fire are underway, it is believed that lithium batteries charging within the property will be looked at as a possible cause. Fortunately no one was injured in the blaze, but the home couldn’t be saved.
