Classic restored car enthusiasts came from far and wide to visit Charlies Bribie Island Hotel last month when the Beachmere Classic Vehicle Club held their Show and Shine. Around 60 classic vehicles were on show with an extremely high standard of refurbishment and craftsmanship on display.

Multiple food trucks and market stalls were also on hand as well as a band in the car park of the hotel. which was also packed with revellers and diners. Cars on show included Ford Mustangs, Holden Torana SLR 5000s, Falcon GT 351s and Hardtops, Minis, Kingswoods, Firebirds, HR Holdens, Stingrays, Eldorados, Hotrods, Transams and Ferarri.

Cars are generally classified as follows:

  • Vintage: Manufactured between 1919 and 1930

  • Antique: Manufactured 1975 or earlier (>45 years old)

  • Classic: Manufactured 1990 or earlier (>20 years old)

The club has 193 members who live within 30kms of Beachmere and own a classic vehicle. However, the club is supported by other clubs around the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast area who also participated in the event. Local turnout was good with the show full from 2pm through to 8pm.

These events are what make Bribie special as we often see classic cars cruising the streets particularly on the weekends. Congratulations to the Bribie Island Hotel for supporting these events. They’re a great complement to the other events held on the island and at Sandstone Point showcasing music, art, craft, and good times at venues like the Sandstone Point Hotel, Blueys, The Jetty, Sues Bar and Grill and the Bowlo and RSL.
