Federal Government gives Moreton Bay a boost

Moreton Bay Regional Council has secured over $5 million thanks to the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Mayor Peter Flannery said that would enable Council to deliver 16 priority projects across the region this financial year. “The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program will enable us to fast-track the delivery of almost $7.5 million worth of shovel-ready projects around our region,” he said. “This will support more than 100 local jobs during construction, putting money in the pockets of local families and our local economy at this tough time.
“I encourage local businesses to register with LG Tender Box to be ready to bid for this upcoming work.
“In addition to roads there’ll be work building new parks, playgrounds and sporting infrastructure which is so important right now - with coronavirus having reminded us all of how important being outdoors and active is to our physical and mental wellbeing.” Federal Member for Dickson Peter Dutton said he was pleased to see the Morrison Government delivering jobs and better outcomes for the community.
“This program has provided a real boost for our area and the wide range of projects will make our community safer and better for everyone,” Mr Dutton said.
“The 12 month timeline on completion is significant because the jobs are being created right now, when we need them most, and the new facilities will be well underway or complete for our community to use as things slowly return to normal next year.”
Federal Member for Longman Terry Young said getting shovels in the ground on local construction projects was important for maintaining jobs and economic growth in Longman and the Moreton Bay region.
“This program is all about the Federal and Local governments working together for the community,” Mr Young said.
“Every single job we support makes a huge difference in our local community, now and as we build our way out of the pandemic.
“That is why we have moved quickly to approve funding to flow to projects that are shovel ready.
“These projects support jobs, construction businesses and economic growth in the region.
“The $1.5 billion Local Road and Community Infrastructure Program reinforces the Federal Government’s commitment to job creation and improving the lives of all Australians.” Federal member for Petrie Luke Howarth said the Morrison Government is very happy to work with council to deliver projects for the community. “The Moreton Bay Regional Council has a strong track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.,” he said. “I work well with Mayor Peter Flannery and the councillors, which produces good outcomes for our area.”
One of the local projects Council will deliver with the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program funding include Woorim First Ave Fauna Crossing.
