With the ravages of a pandemic, lockdowns, thousands out of work, the stresses of home-schooling, associated rises in domestic violence, never has the requirement for funding for Mental Health Research been so critical.


Walk, Get Fit and Raise Money for Mental Health

Bring your friends, partners, and business associates for a morning of fun, helping the members of the Rotary Club of Bribie Island raise funds for this vital cause.

Where: Bribie Island, Brennan Park to the Bridge and Back.

When: Sunday 24th October 2021, 8.00 am to 12 noon.

Entry: $30 Includes entry and a Walk T-Shirt. Those under 15 may walk for free.

Lift the Lid for Mental Health is the Australian Rotary Health’s national campaign to fund research into those affected by depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and many other illnesses.


Examples of research undertaken into the problems of youth in our community include:

  • 2015 -2017 The Cool Kids Programme: An investigation of a psychotherapy programme for distressed youth with functional somatic syndromes

  • 2017 -2018 Preventing Suicide in young Australians with mood disorders

  • 2018 Reducing the impact of bullying victimisation on children’s mental health outcomes

What does Australian Rotary Health do with funds raised?

Australian Rotary Health (ARH) is one of the biggest independent funders of mental health research in Australia. Besides mental health research, they provide funding into a broad range of general health areas, often to areas that do not readily attract funding. In 2021 they have allocated $2,214,340 for 16 Research Project Grants, 7 PhD Scholarships, 3 Post-Doctoral Fellowships, 43 Funding Partner PhD Scholarships, 6 Rural Nursing Scholarships and 80 Indigenous Health Scholarships. Funded almost exclusively by Rotary Clubs and Rotarians around Australia, ARH has now contributed more than $40m for Mental Health Research.
