Tragic end to Caboolture mother’s disappearance

Human remains found in August inside a submerged 4WD off the Spinnaker Sound boat ramp at Sandstone Point have been identified as those of Caboolture mother Amy Schulkins, missing since December 30 last year. Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

A Facebook page set up to help find Ms Schulkins attracted more than 30,000 followers around the world making it a high profile missing person case with significant community interest.

Initially there were a number of reported sightings of Ms Schulkins driving her white Nissan Patrol over the months following her disappearance, and a sign calling for information on the disappearance had been posted at the Benabrow Ave roundabout for many of these months. However, extensive air and land searches by police and volunteers proved unsuccessful.

More recently the scope of the search was widened to include boat ramps and the waters around the Caboolture and Moreton Bay areas, with sonar technology used to search local waterways. The vehicle was eventually found submerged at Spinnaker Sound about 50 metres from the boat ramp.

This is a sad outcome to a tragic local incident and sincere condolences go to Amy’s family and friends, who have thanked the public and all those involved in the search for their support.
